Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy sees each student as a precious gift from God whose eternal goal is Heaven. We direct all of our actions to the greater glory of God and to training our students to recognize and follow His will in a superior academic environment.
We profess our faith in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. We seek to preserve and pass on Her immutable truths in loyalty and devotion to the Holy See. A traditional and thorough catechesis in the Faith cultivates a love for Jesus Christ and His Church, while inspiring a desire to follow His commands in service to others.
We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children whose right and duty to educate cannot be replaced, delegated or usurped. The school is the extension of this Gospel witness in the home.
We believe academic excellence, based on a traditional classical education, produces individuals who are equipped to preserve their intellectual independence through knowledge of objective truth, sound reasoning, clarity of thought and thorough character formation.
We believe our teachers have a great responsibility and privilege to teach each student by example and to foster a love of learning through daily interaction with students in a well - disciplined and nurturing environment.
We place this apostolate in the loving hands of Our Lord and His most blessed Mother, under the title, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. We earnestly pray that the Holy Spirit will guide this endeavor as we seek "to restore all things in Christ."

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy GOALS
AS A PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL WITH A CATHOLIC PHILOSOPHY we strive to produce the "true Christian . . . the supernatural man who thinks and acts constantly and consistently in accordance with right reason illumined by the supernatural light of the example and teaching of Christ." (Pope Pius XI Christian Education of Youth) In particular we seek to:
1. Direct all our actions toward the honor and glory of God through the teachings of the Catholic Church.
2. Develop in our students a profound understanding of the Roman Catholic Faith, and a deep knowledge and love of God;
3. Grow in personal holiness by developing and practicing a life of prayer, by receiving the sacraments frequently and devoutly, and by modeling their lives on those of Christ, His Blessed Mother and the saints;
4. Foster an unwavering loyalty and devotion to the Holy See and the teaching of the Magisterium of the Church,
5. Help them grow in understanding and appreciation of the liturgical and cultural traditions of the Catholic Church,
6. Promote the dignity of human life from conception to natural death through a decidedly pro‑life culture and activities;
7. Provide the intellectual and moral weapons our students need in order to go out into our secular, materialistic society and transform the culture of relativism and death into a culture of truth and life,
8. Teach the students to think intelligently, critically and wisely, and to express themselves confidently with clarity and competence;
9. Promote character by insisting upon responsible application to study and submission to intellectual and moral discipline;
10. Train the students as American citizens who understand their rights and obligations, their part in the function of government and their responsibility to promote the general welfare, realizing the effect of their actions upon the lives of others;
11. Encourage them to develop as leaders, especially moral and religious leaders, through the personalization of and commitment to truth and the application of Christian principles to personal conduct and public life;
12. Foster refinement in manners, speech and dress in accordance with Christian ideals.

I am very grateful to visit often with the students at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy, and to spend time teaching them. The students' enthusiasm about learning our Faith is surpassed only by their teachers' devotion and commitment. I find the students' faith is real, and they have great zeal. I am often amazed at how attentive they are when I am discussing spiritual matters. This experience even increases my own desire to learn more about the Church. The education offered at OLSHA is solidly based upon venerable tradition. and academically rigorous. I believe these students will find it stands them in good stead in high school and in college. I hope more parents will send their children to this school, for I've witnessed much joy here. and enthusiasm for learning, and a real desire to follow the Lord.
